Drug Store Makeup

Hi Everyone

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I am going to share with you my top picks for drugstore makeup. Who doesn’t love a good bargain right?

From my own personal experience I can totally understand how overwhelming it is to purchase new makeup. Those long isles of different brands offering all types of products and promises. Where do you even start? Not to fear you’re not alone and I’m here to help!

Over the years I have trailed and tested my fair share of drugstore products way too many to mention, but today i have narrowed it down to my top ten. They say the best advice you can give to someone is a recommendation that works and is cheap.

No one loves a bargain more than me I promise you. I love to find dupes for all my favourite products and I will share them with you on another blog soon so stay tuned!

As a makeup artist I like to try everything and there is no rule to say that you have to stick to all high end products. I have a few of my favourite drugstore proudest in my kit. There are great drugstore options available to you, offering formulas just as good as their pricier counterparts. This gives everyone a chance to be creative with different looks without breaking the bank. But like most things, with the good also comes the not so good and i have wasted money on more than one occasion but i hope i can help you narrow it down for your next makeup purchase. Here is my personal list of products that I always reach for when it comes to purchasing drugstore products.

I hope they work as well for you as they do for me....

L'Oreal Paris True Match

Love this foundation, comes in almost every shade you could think of. I find this product really easy to blend into my skin using either my stippling brush or my damp beauty blender. Fragrance and oil free to help insure no clogging of pores. Medium to buildable coverage and comes in warm, cool, and neutral tones and price wise it’s pretty good too. They also have a Lumi version if you like a more illumines/dewy finish.

Revlon Colorstay

Another great drugstore foundation also with a wide range of shades. Available in two types combination/oily skin and normal/dry skin. Work a little quicker with this foundation as I find sometimes it can dry faster. This product has long lasting results and a medium to buildable coverage with a matte finish.

Fit Me Matte + Poreless

Fit Me! Matte + Poreless from Maybelline New York is one I recommend to target pores and oily skin. A lightweight foundation with good pigmentation. This is another long lasting product and loved by many with combination/oily skin types.

*TIP* To help increase the foundations overall performance on the skin use a primer before applying your foundation and seal it afterwards with a setting powder. This will allow for smoother application and longer lasting results.

Rimmel London Stay Matte

Stay matte powder is super cheap and in my opinion is one of the tops drug store powders. If you find your skin gets oily throughout the day or you just want to give extra longevity to your makeup, apply this powder to help set your foundation/control shine and minimise pores. It comes in tinted shades or transparent. I normally purchase the transparent shade. Remember tap off excess product from your brush before applying.

L'Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara Carbon Black

Holy Grail Mascara!! A versatile true black mascara that can be used in your daily routine adding volume and doesn’t clump. It can be used day to day for a more natural look and then add another layer for a more dramatic night time look. I have a few other top favourite mascaras that I will share with you on another blog soon.

Maybelline Anti Age Rewind

This easy to apply light weight concealer is a great buy, be sure to pick up the correct shade for your skin colour. I apply my concealer by drawing an upside down triangle underneath the eye and dabbing it into the skin with my ring finger or concealer brush

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer

This is a great products to add a touch of glow to the skin. I apply it to the under the eye area, bridge of the nose and on my cheekbones. It can be worn as a primer but my favourite way of wearing this product is mixing it with my foundation for a smooth and radiant finish.

Maybelline Color Sensational - The Mattes

I love wearing this lip stick on a daily basis. Its soft creamy texture feels good on my lips and its super easy to apply. For a matte lipstick i find it doesn't dry out my lips like a lot of other matte drugstore lipsticks i`ve tried and it last the majority of the day. My favourite colour at the moment is Nude Nuance for an everyday nude matte finish.

Rimmel London Natural Bronzer

I think you will find this drugstore bronzer in many makeup bags. Its an oldie but a goodie. Its buildable with a matte finish. I find with a few drugstore bronzers ive tried they leave an orange tinge but I don’t find that with this product. Its great for that all over sun kissed look. Use with a large fluffy brush for even application. I always tap off excess before applying, and remember less is more.

NYX Butter Gloss

I`m sure I am not alone when i say this but I love NYX Butter gloss, both the original and the intense range. These are my go too lips glosses as they are so smooth and creamy when you apply them and best of all they are not sticky like a lot of glosses ive tried. The original butter gloss does exactly what it says it does ( light/buttery/creamy texture) it`s not as thick or pigmented as the intense range and the intense range does last longer but you won`t go wrong with either of these goodies. Im loving Tres Leches & Sorbet at the min.

So that`s it my beauties! I hope you found this blog helpful and if you have questions or need advice just get in contact with me Im happy to help and also would love to hear about your drugstore favorites.

Much love

GC xx
