Daily Skincare Routine With Ultraceuticals

--- Taking care of your largest Organ ---

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my skincare routine blog! A question I am often asked about is what skin routine I use and what products I use and to be honest its kind of a long winded list of different products to target different problems. So in this blog I`m going to talk about my routine and how i`ve never looked back sense I started to invest in my skin. So if you want to hear some tips and tricks to add to your facial routine then you have come to the right place I have also collaborated with Australia’s Skin Specialist of the year Cathriona Flanagan answering some of the most commonly asked questions regarding their skincare

The key to a good skin routine is CONSISTENCY. Where I run into problems is when I'm traveling, a big night out or just tiredness, the last thing I want to do is spend time doing a facial routine. This is the time we really need to make the extra effort to take care of our skin.

When I studied Beauty and Holistic Therapy my mentors couldn't stress enough how important it was to look after your skin on a daily basis. Before I started studying I just used all different types of wipes, lets face it they were quick, easy, affordable and at the time they did the job.

In my early 20s I had a few different pots and potions that I used and the odd facial but it still wasn’t nearly enough. It was only in my mid 20s that I took the plunge to try a whole new range of products that were recommended to me. I started off with buying the basics! It was the most money I have ever spent on products in my life, so in the back of my head I'm thinking these better work, and boy did they work. I've being using them for almost 5 years now and still loving my results while adding a few more products to the collection over time.

So without further ado…. My skincare routine is broken up into two parts, morning and night, and they both work hand in hand with each other!

I have dry skin so I am using products with a lot of added hydration and moisturising benefits. In combination with this I use products with active ingredients to help fight against the signs of ageing.

So there you have it!

I have found since I began using active ingredients, like the serums A and C in my routine, it has increased the production of collagen and elastin, which is pretty much a battle we are all fighting? Right! If you do happen to try out a new skin regime remember a break out may occur but this isn’t a bad thing so try not to panic. Have you ever heard of the saying it has to get worse before it gets better? well that’s what it is like in this case also! Power through and it will get better, I promise. Its just a build-up of all the congestion hidden deep within your skin bursting to come to the surface.

HEARING FROM THE EXPERTS

Very excited to share with you AMAZING tips from Australia’s skin specialist of the year Cathriona Flanagan

What is the biggest misunderstanding clients have when it comes to their skin? The one huge misunderstanding I come across, in both men and women alike, is to not put moisturiser on oily skin. I strongly advise and educate all my clients on the importance of using hydrating products to help reduce oil flow.

What is the skin concern you have treated the most and why do you think that is? Coming from Ireland, I never realised what a horrific effect the sun has on our skin and how damaging it is. Since moving to Australia, 95 per cent of the conditions I treat are related to sun damage. I also take care to educate younger clients on the importance of reducing sun exposure and wearing a minimal SPF 30 on a daily basis.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to your clients to make sure they look after their skin? My 5 top tips for healthy skin are: • Wear SPF (minimum 30 in Australia) • Get enough sleep • Keep hydrated (Drink +2 litres of water daily) • Exfoliate regularly (which allows for maximum penetration of your other products) • Reduce stress levels

What do you find are the main causes of skin damage, and what are the best ways to prevent this? I think the main cause for skin damage is overexposure to the sun – it kills off living cells, breaks down collagen and elastin production and causes broken capillaries. It can also lead to overproduction of melanin, which can manifest as pigmentation, sun spots, melanomas, solar keratosis, sebaceous hyperplasia… the list goes on. Always wear a high quality sunscreen even on cloudy days or if you’re driving, as sun rays still penetrate through clouds and glass. If you’re going to be outside for hours, just wear a hat. It’s that easy!

Please try and remember we all have different skin types, so we all have different needs. When you are trying out products or buying something new, make sure you stick to products with a solution to your own personal needs. What works for me may not necessary work for you.

It can be a little over whelming with all the choices we have at our disposal. I didn’t find what worked for my skin until my mid-20s. Remember, the internet is your best friend, there are so many resources out there to help you and of course feel free to contact me, I'm more than happy to help.

As I'm sure you all know I could write pages upon pages on different skins types and different products on the market. But, hey Rome wasn’t built in a day! Stay tuned to my blog as I will be posting some more skin related topics soon and let me know what you would like me to blog on, I would love to hear your suggestions! I hope you enjoyed reading my skin routine and picked up some tips, thanks for stopping by.

Much love

GC xx
